Who we are!

  • We are an independent, Baptist church committed to preaching and living the whole counsel of God.
  • We are part of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches.  A group established to fight the liberalism and modernism that spread through so many churches in the early part of the 20th century.
  • We are people who strive to love Christ and one another.

 

A Brief History of L'Anse Baptist Church

Date Event
1943 Rev. Russell French planted L'Anse Baptist Church
May 1944 Little white church on Main Street purchased as the congregation grew too large for meeting in French's home
1954 Rev. Stanley Donaldson succeeded Pastor French for the next 3 years
1957 Rev. Lloyd Welton, by God's grace, led the church through a difficult period of trials and suffering, the end results all bringing glory to God
1962

Ray Schaedig began his energetic pastorate at L'Anse Baptist Church.

1970

Pastor Schaedig ordained at L'Anse Baptist Church.

Under Rev. Schaedig's leadership L'Anse Baptist Church also:

  • Broke ground on our present facility
  • Commissioned the church's first missionaries, Howard and Shirley Reed
1972

Pastor Robert White called to pastor the church.

During his ministry the dream of a new addition began.

1989 Pastor Larry Saunders was called to pastor the church, by unanimous vote. He began his tenure in January 1990.
1999 The new sanctuary is completed! To the glory of God this huge undertaking is accomplished free of debt!
Oct 2004 Rev. Jerry and Sarah Bishop and their family are called, by unanimous vote, to shepherd the flock of L'Anse Baptist.
