As a church, we are studying the importance of the 10 commandments.  Why study such an old and out of date text?   All you have to do is look around.  It is patently obvious that our society has lost its moral foundation.  This highlights the need for an exposition of the Law of God.  The Law was given by God to restrain sin. The Law reveals to lost men and women their need of salvation, as they stand condemned before a holy God.  Believers, too, need the moral guidelines of the Law of God.  Christ reminded us us that we should love God and love our neighbor as the fulfillment of the Law.  The "Big Ten" show us how we are to love God.  1)  I love Him by keeping Him first, 2) I love Him by worshiping with a genuine heart, 3)  I love Him by wearing His name with honor...  You can listen to the sermons or read more here.

The Emerging Church,  What is it?

A review of Rob Bell's book "Velvet Elvis", Pastor at Mars Hill Church in Grand Rapids .  Pat Howell (from The Bible Church of LittleRock) says:  "The Emerging Church is reacting against "Fundamentalism" and confusing it with historic Christianity".

OR:

Listen to Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill of Seattle evaluate the Emerging Church and his own position. While I do NOT agree with everything he says, the history he gives is really interesting!

OR:

From Roger Oakland / The Church in the West is facing a huge paradigm shift.  We are being told there must be a new way to "do church".  The old ways no longer connect with a generation nursed upon postmodernism.  It is being said that if we are to survive then we must start using the language and thinking patterns of the current generation.  The Emerging church is considered a conversation that is "emerging" rather than a Body of Believers standing upon truth claims and doctrinal formulations.   The Emerging Church is a reaction against the shallowness of the Seeker movement and against the perceived arrogance of those who believe the Bible makes definite truth claims which should be stated in clear, authoritative propositions.   read more here

How earnestly do you pray?  This modern parable illustrates Christ's parable about the  persisitent widow.  It is a touching story!
